Situated along a quiet stretch of Jl. M. Syafe'i in the heart of Padang Panjang, this spot offers a steady stream of traditional West Sumatran flavors that attract a diverse crowd. Visitors often come looking for hearty local dishes like Mie Rebus or Soto Padang, paired with a selection of coffee and tea that complements the slow, relaxed pace of the place.
The atmosphere is cozy and casual, with a sense of familiarity that invites both solo diners and groups, especially college students and tourists eager to sample authentic regional tastes. The interior maintains a quiet, laid-back vibe, making it a comfortable choice for those who want a simple meal without too much fuss. While the building has seating on a second floor that holds a certain nostalgic charm, access can be challenging for those with mobility needs.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served here, with quick bites and desserts like kolak pisang available for those looking for something light. Although the setting is informal and cash-only, it’s welcoming to families, with options suitable for kids and free parking nearby, an added convenience in this busy area. The service is straightforward, and while cleanliness and restroom access have room for improvement, many find the authentic tastes and relaxed ambiance a reason to return.

4 It was my first time eating ampiang dadiah and for me, it tasted strange. So it's not fair if I base my review on this ampiang eating experience alone. The kolak pisang that I ordered after I could not finish my ampiang was great. Cleanliness and services need to be improved.
5 The restaurant has been here for quite many years. Kampiun is still the best in here and the 2nd floor is still awesome, just like many years ago.
4 a nostalgic place where you might unexpectedly run into an old friend or acquaintance
